Phrasal Verbs with Look



Hello everyone
In today's lesson we are going to learn about a phrasal verb!

(A phrasal verb is a verb plus preposition or adverb which creates a meaning different from the original verb)

Step 2: Read the summary

*Look up means: to search for information 
For example: I need to look that word up in the dictionary I have never heard it before


*Look up to means: to view someone with respect and admiration
For example: everyone in the class looked up to  the teacher

*Look down (on) means: to feel that someone is less important than you or doesn't deserve respect.
For example: 'A lot of people look down on us because we are homeless'


*Look over means :check quickly 
For example: Will you look over my report?


*Look through means: to check carefully for details
For example: He looked through his notes before the class.


*Look after means: to take care of something
For example: The babysitter had to look after the children.


*Look in on means: to visit someone or something for a short time 
For example: the doctor said he had look in on you tomorrow.


*Look into means: to investigate or examine
For example: I will look into this matter and see what I can do about it.


*Look out means: warning be careful
For example: LOOK OUT! You're going to drop that!


*Look out for means: to feel responsibility for someone/something
For example: look out for my friend while you are there.


*Look around: to walk around a room,building or place and see what is there.
For example: Do you want to look around the school?
